Refreshing, tart-sweet strawberry lemonade brightened with fresh citrus and finished with smooth bourbon. Perfect for summer gatherings, BBQs, or an easy pitcher cocktail.
Make the strawberry syrup: In a small saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, and 0.5 cup water. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring and lightly mashing until the berries soften and the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing to extract juices; discard solids. Chill briefly.
In a large pitcher, stir together fresh lemon juice and 3.0 cups cold water. Add the cooled strawberry syrup and mix until evenly combined.
Pour in the bourbon whiskey and add 4.0 cups of ice. Stir until the pitcher is cold and well mixed.
Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices, strawberry slices, and mint leaves.
Notes
For a lighter drink, top each glass with a splash of club soda. To batch ahead, keep the strawberry lemonade base chilled without ice and add whiskey and ice just before serving.
